Reading Between The Lines
One positive that has come out of the last year is a 35% increase in reading. This is not significant just for publishing, but primarily for people. It has been found that reading for just six minutes can lead to a 68% decrease in stress! Given the social distancing measures in place across the world, and a greater need than ever for escapism, it’s no surprise that 14% of people read significantly more throughout the last year. For many people, reading is a way to connect, not just with characters, but with other people – book clubs have gone online, likewise book blogs and ‘bookstagrams’ have gained greater followings as people seek inspiration and recommendations. We hope the reading revival is here to stay!
